4 September 2017 – Life Unlimited Store customers who purchased a Neo Mobility product in May and June went in the draw to win one of three prizes of $1000, $500 and $250. Meet first-prize winners Stephen and Gillian King.
When Stephen and Gillian King purchased a Neo Challenger power wheelchair from Life Unlimited Store they had no idea it would enable them to support someone else’s journey to better mobility and quality of life.

The $1000 windfall is an unexpected “gift” says Gillian. That’s why they’ve decided to use it to support Gillian’s sister who was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The money will go towards assistive equipment she may need and also to help her to achieve some lifelong dreams such as taking a hot air balloon ride.
The priority is “what makes life easier for her, and something to enjoy,” says Stephen.
When Tash Kerrison from Life Unlimited Store visited Gillian and Stephen to give them a cheque for $1000, they’d just returned from a short trip to Matamata, Rotorua and Taupo.
They took the Neo Challenger power wheelchair with them. With a few simple adjustments it fits easily into the back of their SUV.
They say the Challenger has been “brilliant”, particularly its manoeuvrability.
“It’s no trouble at The Warehouse or on the grocery shop,” says Stephen. “I can’t walk around there anymore.”

“In hospital it’s brilliant,” adds Gillian. “It’s a long way down those halls!”
A long career contracting and driving heavy machinery took its toll on Stephen’s mobility.
He’s no stranger to Life Unlimited Store having previously bought a Neo mobility scooter from there as well.
The scooter has been great for getting around their peaceful one-acre, rural property in Kio Kio just north of Otorohanga.
Coincidentally, second-place winners in the Neo Mobility cash-back draw, Leslie and Pete Dowd, also hail from the small King Country town.
“It’s just lovely. I’m very grateful,” says Leslie.

For third-place winner based in Hamilton, Phyllis Cunningham, the prize was timely – arriving just ahead of her ninety-first birthday and a special dinner with family.
